Sourdough Coffee Cake

This classic only takes a few minutes to put together while the oven preheats. Good served warm.

1 cup sourdough starter
1/3 cup vegetable oil
1 egg (lightly beaten)
1 cup all-purpose flour
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cinnamon


1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons room-temperature butter
1 tablespoon flour

1. Combine sourdough starter, oil and egg.
2. Stir together dry ingredients and add to sourdough mixture.
3. Put dough into greased 9 inch square pan.
4. Crumble topping ingredients together. Sprinkle topping on top of batter.
5. Bake for 35 minutes (until toothpick comes out clean) at 350°.
